Leap Day of Leap Year 2012 and I left home this morning to this loveliness – almost two inches and coming down strong and cold. It may even be there when I get home, AND we may get some more tonight. Two snows so far this year – wowsa!
I didn’t leave myself enough time to take a lot of pictures, and the wind was blowing so macro shots were NOT working out (none of my snow-topped rosehip photos worked and that red was awesome – I’ll try again if I can), but we had a lovely coating of snow on the trees and bushes. I love snow at this stage, when I can still drive around in it, the mud hasn’t snuck through yet, ice isn’t layering into the mess, and the world has a clean white blanket to make it all pretty and picturesque. Just lovely.
One of my favorite “sounds” in the whole world is snow-silence… you know that moment when you step out the door at night to watch the snow fall, the wind isn’t blowing, and you swear you can hear the flakes settle gently down, one by one? I hope you do know that, it’s amazingly peaceful and serene.
And to think I’ve seen daffodils already out there, and the first tiny buds on trees and bushes… it will soon be time for a new header image.
Happy Leap Day, ya’all! Mine came with a pleasant surprise of snow – how about yours?
