I know the saying for March is “In like a lion, out like a lamb,” but really – this was snow leopard country this morning. I can’t even remember the last time it snowed in March…
We didn’t have as much as yesterday, though I hoped it would positively dump on us when I was up at 1:00am letting the dog out to pee. Still, it was enough to create this winter wonderland I so enjoy.
I love how the flakes manage to wedge themselves into all the nooks and crannies of these pine branches, packing in tight yet also clinging to the ends of needles. My camera isn’t strong enough for good individual snowflake shots (see amazing ones here by Margie -you should really hang out there for a while too, if you haven’t before) but still – can you see the little guys hanging in there?
The rosehips lost their cap of snow but gained caps of ice. I LOVE these pops of brilliant crimson in the otherwise drab winter environment. Yes, it’s Oregon so we’re “evergreen” but the pops of warm, fiery color are still so very welcome this time of year. I’m keeping a constant eye out for the daffodils for their sunny smiles.
Lots of happenings coming up in March so I’m glad to be back to the blog. And I missed ya’all! = )
