When I first met Matt I fell in love with this great fine art print hanging in his office at work; now, most of his art is of the deer and elk wildlife variety, so this print made me see him in a slightly different light (there’s a touch of whimsy in this guy!). Then I went and fell in love with the guy, the art print was taken down and stashed away somewhere, we were married, and one day the print came home with him and I fell in love with it all over again. When I found out I was pregnant I quickly realized this should be the focal point of the nursery.
I finally took note of the artist this time – Dean Morrissey. I went online to see what he’s doing now, maybe find a picture of Matt’s print (because it’s tough to take a good pic through glass) and suddenly it dawned on me – I purchased two of Morrissey’s illustrated children’s books years ago, before I even met Matt. Before I saw this print. How cool is that? Great minds really do think alike. = )
Isn’t this fabulous? Look at the colors, the details, the map sails, spinning top paddle wheel, and camel on deck. The books are equally gorgeous and will make a happy addition to the baby’s library. And I’m so eager to play with this idea of whimsy and adventure as I put together the Nursery…once it’s rearranged again.
