I’ve been in Nursdio mode for a while, with good reason – 33 weeks tomorrow and baby is coming up fast! But I really REALLY want to put some new work in the Lake Oswego open art show in a few weeks so it’s time to switch gears…
Here’s one piece that’s THIS CLOSE to being complete and only needs a little more tweaking (please ignore the leaning-over-a-box-and-digital-camera-fisheye-wonkyness!) –
I like the colors and patterns but the proportions aren’t right for the frame I have but since I’m focused on using what I have as much as possible, as there’s little extra money now for running out to buy supplies just because, I can make it work. There’s a pile of different styles and sizes of frames in my storage so I should have plenty to choose from for additional pieces, too – I’m full of ideas for at least two more and could likely put together 5 more with what’s swirling around in my noggin which feels great. It’s been a while since I felt like I could sit down and make something, be creative, and feel fulfilled in that manner.
Linda and I went to see Mar Goman’s bookarts show at 23 Sandy Gallery on Friday evening which added a little more inspiration to my current ideas and a’swirling noggin, and that never hurts. Her sketchbooks alone were to die for! Go, see the show, and check out the rest of the artist books at the gallery, it’s well worth a trip.
Boy, it felt good to go out and see art. It feels good to be making art. = )
