The past few days have been frigid. The puddles in the ruts of my road are full of ice; the wind sucks all the moisture from my fingers and makes my curly hair dance with it’s own life; the sky is clear and soft blue with a piercing late-fall sun. I bundle up, not quite willing to pull out the ‘big coat’ yet and not quite ready to let go of flip-flops before heels on the way to work, though those will go very soon at this rate. I’m so grateful for the sun even though it’s cold, as the rains will soon come…
It’s the holiday season, did you know? I’ve found, and I know I’m not alone here based on my Instagram feed, that my holiday spirit is hitting early this year. I’ve *gasp* purchased some presents already and have plans for several more. I’m thinking about our Christmas tree hunt, how I should decorate the Thanksgiving table, little ways to bring the outdoors in for holiday decor, things like that. My plans for homemade projects are brewing (as usual), with hopes I’ll actually get some done this year (fingers crossed). I don’t think Forrest will “get” the holidays yet but it’s still fun to think about what all this hoopla is like from his perspective.
Happy Friday, friends! Today I’m feeling warm and fuzzy and nostalgic? Perhaps holiday-ee is a better word (because that is SO a word). How about you?
Here’s to a fabulous weekend. May you try to have patience as you fight the crowds for that perfect turkey. = )
