Today’s Deep Thought isn’t even my own. It’s from this awesome video that Erin posted. If you have a little time, 7 or 8 minutes, enjoy.
What spoke to me most from the video is this, something to remember in the future:
When the scared feeling comes into you, The Scared is SCARED of things you like.
But of course. The Scared wants to cling to you. The Scared wants your undivided attention. The Scared wants to rule your world. But if you fill your heart, your mind, your being with all the thoughts of what you like, what you love, The Scared has nothing to hold on to and just might go away and find something else to cling to. And really, what’s better than filling your heart with what you love?
Trying to conceive a baby can be scary. It would have been much better if I could have remembered to think of all the lovely things in life rather than be SCARED of what I didn’t have. Same with love – why be SCARED that it won’t find you? Fill your heart with love and like instead, then there’s no room for anything else. Starting a new job? Don’t let SCARED get you down. Facing surgery or illness or grief? Remember love so there’s no room for SCARED. Starting any new, “scary” path in life? Turn your thoughts to the loves and likes and good stuff you already have; don’t give The Scared a hand to hold.
It’s worth a shot next time The Scared tries to get me.
What do you think?
