We did it! There’s a crib in my house, and it’s set up in a room that will be the nursery, and my studio is still there, and I only got mad at Matt once and cried a lot over something that wasn’t worth crying over and was so very easily fixed… not bad, if I do say so myself. In fact, I think the only tasks I didn’t finish from my weekend list on Friday was baby registries. Oh, and two of the bathrooms. Darnit.
There’s still much futzing and decorating to be done, and a bit more tidying up of the studio side, but tada! A Nursery on the right!
And a Studio on the left!
We have a Nursdio!!!
And since I was on a roll, I started refinishing the green cabinet, too.
Here you’ll see the top painted white after a light sanding… not the best job, but I think it will suffice, especially since I did it here in the room because that sucker is HEAVY, even when empty. After Matt lugged the huge desk over on the studio side upstairs by himself, and the crib, and the chair, I didn’t have the heart to ask him to lug this cabinet downstairs… then back up again. Anyway! So I did a light sand and paint on the top and the three drawers will go down to the garage for their glamor treatment.
At this point, I want to find an old map, or something that approximates that aged-paper look, to decoupage the top and drawers. I think that will go nicely with the green of the cabinet and dark espresso of the crib, and it will repeat the map sails from the picture.
I’m debating a spray paint treatment on the glider… I’m not sure I like the white so much right now. And if I get REALLY ambitious in the next month or so, I might just redo the upholstery, too… but at least I can take off or mask all the fabric and change up the color pretty easily, right?
Next steps here will be to hang the print and one of my dragonfly prints from college, make a pillow for the glider, hang a couple of shelves, and continue stocking up on pretty baskets to replace the cardboard boxes on the studio side. Speaking of, as I faced moving everything on the right to the left when I realized the Nursdio layout wouldn’t work how I initially planned, I also realized there’s a lot more “essential” stuff I’ve kept out of storage that I don’t see needing on a regular basis…so that will be pared down too. I must confess, I did very little letting go of stuff in this process. Apparently I’m more attached to my stuff than I thought. Good thing babies are small for a while.
= )
Well done – it looks fantastic! I betcha both were shattered after all that shifting about. Take it easy if you need to.
That’s what big strong husbands are for! But yes, I’m finding more frequent feet-up breaks need to punctuate my activities these days and I whole-heartedly embrace that! = )
